Swedish rockers Degreed are excited to announce the physical edition of the EP “The Leftovers - Volume I”, out on July 18th, 2025, and digitally available now via Frontiers Music Srl.
The physical release will be exclusive to the Frontiers webstore, and include three bonus tracks, among them the new single “This Is Love (Synthwave Version)”, out now along with an accompanying lyric video.

Talking about the new single, vocalist Robin Eriksson said: “This synthwave version of this song is something special and different from what we usually do. But we have been very inspired by synthwave music, I think all four of us, but especially Mike. Since he’s the keyboard player, maybe it comes naturally. But the vibe of synthwave has really inspired us all”.
Degreed have been releasing critically acclaimed music since the start of their career with their first album “Life, Love, Loss” in 2010. Over the course of their career, the band has gone from strength to strength with every release, touring and gaining fans all over the world. Their sound mixes classic melodic and hard rock sounds with more contemporary influences, offering the fans a very personal, fresh and exciting mix of great rock music.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the band wasn’t able to tour on the heels of the release of the album “Lost Generation” in 2019. The band released the song “The World We Knew”, their musical summation of the year 2020 (the song became “Track of the Week” at Classic Rock Magazine’s website a week after its release) and then in 2021, Degreed began working on what would ultimately become “Are You Ready”, released in 2022.
The latest Degreed album, “Public Address”, was released on July 7, 2023, and it sees the band delivering on all of the promise of earlier efforts and reaching an absolute premiere moment in their musical creativity.

Bei den Ersten Takten der 1.Nummer "If It Wasn't For Me" dachte ich:"Oh NAJA...!"Ein guter Titel zum Einstieg eines Album...sicherlich!Aber ist insgesamt das Album auch gut?
Um das mal vorweg zu beantworten:JA!Denn nach der Ersten Nummer ging das Album insich auf wie die Sonne am Morgen!Gut strukturierte Nummern,interessantes Songwriting,nette Hooks,nette Melodien!UND leichte Metaleinflüsse!Insgesamt grooved das Scheibchen schon ordendlich!Also:insgesamt guter melodic Rock der Skandinavier!
Ausgewogen, frisch, dynamisch!So lässt sich das Album am Besten beschreiben!Die Vocals...hm...die "gepresste" Stimme wirkt mir manchmal "zu gepresst".Bei den ruhigen Momenten wirkt die Stimme sehr,sehr gut und bringt das gut rüber mit viel Gefühl!Aber passend zu den Songs!Auch mag ich die Gitarrenarbeit!Die Ideen von Daniel Johansson gefallen mir:Nicht zu viel...nicht zu wenig!Sehr gut!Wohl dosiert!
Und schon lange habe ich nicht mehr so gute Chöre auf einem Album gehört!Das möchte ich mal erwähnen.Die klingen einfach gut!
Trotzdem...ich habe das Gefühl,das da musikalisch noch viel Luft nach oben ist.Und von daher...da wird (hoffendlich) noch viel mehr Songmaterial kommen.Das hier ist solide Arbeit,die gern fortgeführt werden darf!

HEARTS ON FIRE - Signs & Wonders

Seven years after HEARTS ON FIRE’s debut album titled “Call Of Destiny” (2018) was released, the group returns with powerful music and a new voice! This time featuring none other than renowned singer Mark Boals on vocals!
Their second album “Signs & Wonders” features a solid line-up consisting of Jean Funes (guitars, Silent Tiger), Joel Mejía (drums, Silent Tiger) and keyboardist Eric Ragno (Khymera, The Babys) that brings 11 songs to life, delivered with more intensity and punch, but still keeping that melodic magic present. Vor 7! Jahren das Debüt-Album und nun wieder ein Album...
Mark Boals als Sänger...nunja...Da geht was am Micro!Der Kerl kann "es" einfach.FERTIG!Aus!Die Position in der Band ist somit schon mal Richtig gut besetzt!Jean Funes (Gitarren, Silent Tiger), Joel Mejía (Schlagzeug, Silent Tiger) und Keyboarder Eric Ragno (Khymera, The Babys) übernehmen die weiteren Parts in der Band.Dennis Ward (u.a. Pink Cream 69, Khymera, Magnum)hat das Album gemischt und gemastert und ist als Gast am Bass mit dabei!Und da bin ich denn auch mal gleich beim Mix bzw. beim Sound des Albums.Ich muss einfach mal was loswerden.Angesprochener Dennis Ward liefert auch hier nicht zum Ersten Mal eine tolle Arbeit ab.Ich mag einfach die von ihm gemischten Alben.Der Sound ist einfach der Hammer.Die Leute an den Reglern werden ganz gern mal "vergessen" und für mein dafürhalten einfach zu wenig gelobt.Denn der Job ist kein einfacher.Das ist harte Arbeit!So...das hätten wir den auch mal erwähnt!
Doch was höre ich hier eigendlich?Ganz einfach:melodischer Rock.Das geht sofort gut in die Gehörgänge und macht SPASS!Besonders bedingt-wie angesprochen- wegen Marc Boals und dem tollen Mix!
Alles ist klar strukturiert und auf den Punkt gebracht!Da wird nicht lange gefackelt,bis ein Song mal abgeht!Wer aber erwartet so RICHTIG hartes Zeug zu hören,wird hier nichts dergleichen hören.Vielmehr tolles und gut umsetztes Songmaterial!Wobei ich sagen möchte,das eine so RICHTIGE Ballade hier nicht zu hören ist.Manchmal passen Balladen auch nicht zu einem Album.Das Album hier braucht z.b. keine Ballade.Das würde dem gesamten Flow der Scheibe meiner Ansicht auch garnicht guttun!

Die Debüt-EP von FIRST LIGHT aus dem Jahre 2023 ist wohl an mir vorbeigegangen...
Was mir aauffällt,ist die wirklich gute Gitarrenarbeit von Dave Hardman.der mit coolen Soloparts zu überzeugen weiß.Und dann die Vocals von Warren Passaro:Ebenfalls Erste Sahne!Der Mann kann singen!Auch der musikalische "Rest" ist wirklich sehr ansprechend.Ihre Instrumente beherschen die Herrschaft definitiv!Auch das Songwriting ist gut und abwechslungsreich.Ohne Frage.Manche GROßEN Bands wären dankbar für GROßARTIGE Songs dieser Güteklasse...Und achja...Harry Hess hat dann das Scheibchen auch noch gemastert!
Eigendlich ist der Weg doch vorgezeichnet:Diese Band MUSS einfach einschlagen wie eine "Bombe"...
ABER...nette Songs...ein GUTE und STARKE Umsetzung des Ganzen reichen aber leider für mich nicht aus,um wirklich so Richtig abzugehen.Ja...Songs wie z.b "Forever Young" (KEINE Covernummer von ALPHAVILLE) gehen gut ins Ohr...Ich bin allerdings der Meinung,das ein verdammt gutes Mastering bzw. ein guter Mix im Studio nicht alles ausmachen können!Mir fehlt da irgendwas.Der letzte Kick.Das letzte "WOW"!Das letzte "Ding",was mich vollends zu der Überzeugung kommen lässt:DAS Album bekommt jetzt noch mehr Punkte,als die,die ich dafür vergebe.
ALLES klingt einfach "nur" nett und ansprechend.Mehr aber auch nicht!

AOR aus Skandinavien...Genau gesagt aus Schweden...
Und nur mal für das Protokoll: im Jahr 1988 erschien die Erste Single "Hearts Keep On Burning" und 1989 die Zweite mit "Fool For Your Love"!Starke Songs.Allerdings...wenn man mal bedenkt,das Bands wie EUROPE oder TREAT gerade ihre Hochzeit hatten,kann man sich vorstellen,das es andere,nicht so bekannte Bands wie ROULETTE echt schwer hatten,sich wirklich durchzusetzen.2008 erschien dann endlich das ERSTE,RICHTIGE und komplette Album ("Better Late Then Never")...ALLERDINGS war es dann auch ein Album mit Songs,die man davor Jahrelang "angesammelt" hatte...Also Songs,die quasi so schon ewige Zeiten fertig waren,aber nie die Sonne erblickt hatten!DANN 2018 erschien "NOW!"Ich verstehe nicht die verdammt GROßen zeitlichen Abstände...Die Gründe kennt wohl nur die Band....Egal...
Was mir besonders auffällt:Kaum bis garnicht erkenne ich irgendwelche Keyboardparts.Selbiges empfinde ich auch bei den Backing Vocals-die sind da...ABER schön dezent!DAS gefällt mir.Denn so klingt das vorliegende Material einfach roher und knackiger,als das Material vieler,anderer Bands dieses Genres.Das Album klingt einfach gut.Gute Songs,die mir Laune machen.Das hier bereitet Spass!Die Bassparts sind Klasse...Die Gitarre "sägt" sich durch jeden Song...aber ohne zu übertreiben...und mit Köpfchen!Die Drums machen ihren Job anständig!Und trotzdem klingt ALLES auf den Punkt gebracht.
Wenn man mal davon Absieht,das die Vocals Thomas Lundgren nicht unbedingt die tollsten sind...Die Vocals passen trotzdem zu den Songmaterial der Skandinavier!
Alles in Allem ein interessantes Album!Ohne Frage!Da höre ich GUTE Musik.Musik...auf den Punkt gebracht...OHNE Übertreibungen...Ohne extreme Selbstdarstellerei der einzelnen Akteure der Band.Ich hoffe aber nun mal ENDLICH,das wir Hörer nicht wieder jahrelang auf das nächste Album warten müssen!

Following the departure of Fabio Lione (Rhapsody, Angra) and Claudia Layline, guitarist Nick Savio (Hollow Haze), bassist Andrea Buratto (Secret Sphere, Hell In The Club), and drummer Enrico Fabris, managed to bring on board two young talented singers Gabriele Gozzi (who recently joined Induction) and Letizia Merlo.
Eternal Idol’s sophomore album is an epic maelstrom of symphonic/melodic metal that will delight fans of the genre who treasure intense songwriting and impeccable vocal performances.
Nick Savio worked hard on songwriting and arrangements. The new vocalists added their personal touch on all the songs as well. The album was recorded between the end of 2019 and early 2020, produced by Eternal Idol, and mixed by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Sunstorm). “Behind A Vision” represents a promise and a statement from Eternal Idol: to be one of the absolute best melodic metal releases of the year!
Eternal Idol is a symphonic metal band which was put together by Rhapsody and Angra vocalist Fabio Lione Italian guitarist Nick Savio of Hollow Haze. Their plan was to create a new and original sound which could catch symphonic metal fans by surprise. In fact, Eternal Idol offers an intriguing mix of classic metal, symphonic rock, and a few progressive metal twists.
The band’s debut, “The Unrevealed Secret” was released in December 2016, and received an overall excellent response. The band toured Europe and Italy in support of the release in early 2017.
Unfortunately, Eternal Idol went through some lineup changes all over the years, but Nick has always been able to regroup and brought a reenergized line-up and, with a brand new album under their belt, the band is now ready to once again unleash its baroque metal sound on the world!

Zwei Sänger (Gabriele Gozzi und Letizia Merlo)...Kann man so machen...
Irgendwie erinnert mich das an „Visions of Atlantis“.Zumindest sind die Einflüsse dabei...Ganz bestimmt wirkt das alles "bombastisch" und Episch.ABER...grundsätzlich zuviel Keyboardparts.Wer es denn mag,findet hier sein musikalisches Ding.Mir ist das zuviel!Sicherlich ist die Umsetzung und die Idee des Wechselgesanges Mann/Frau nicht Neu.Das haben andere Bands auch schon dabei gehabt.Man muss es schon mögen.Ob es allerdings so über kommende Alben weitergehen (muss)...Keine Ahnung.Lass wir uns auch da mal überraschen.Es klingt nett und gut umgesetzt,aber auch für meine Ohren vorhersehbar.Nun gut...muss jeder für sich entscheiden,ob man das nun gut findet!Fans dieser Art gibt es bestimmt...Mein Ding ist das nicht!
Das Album ist weiterhin vollgepackt mit netten Melodien und eingängigen Refrains.Was ich allerdings auch gut finde.Und lenkt mich etwas von dem Wechselgesang etwas ab....Fakt ist:Ich höre symphonic Metal.Und wer Band wie zum Beispiel Nightwish oder Xandria mag,mag auch dieses hier.Ich bin bei diesem Album, etwas zwiegespalten.Auf der einen Seite ist das hier nicht so mein Ding,auf der anderen Seite klingt das schon sehr erwachsen und ich entdecke doch schon Interessante Passagen innerhalb des Albums.Wenn man mal aber die oben angesprochenen Punkte hinzunimmt,muss ich aber (für mich) abstriche machen.Unterm Strich ist das Scheibchen ok-mehr aber auch nicht!Wohin die Reise der Band gehen wird,steht in den Sterne.Ich irre mich auch gerne...Vielleicht gehen die Herrschaften auch mit diesem Album durch die Decke.Ich kann hiermit nicht so wirklich etwas anfangen.

LAGUNA stammen aus Nordmexiko.Daher hatte ich noch nie eine Band,die ich vorstellen durfte...Glaube ich...
Und bevor ich das vergesse:Dass hier ist das Debütalbum!Als ich die Ersten Songs,hörte (ohne vorher das Info zur Scheibe zu lesen),dachte ich,das es sich um ein skandinavische Band handelt.Aber weit gefehlt.Wie bereits angesprochen stammen die Jungs aus Nordmexico.Ich muss sagen,das Melodic Rock eh mein Ding ist.Und genau das hier auch.was mir sofort gefiel,war der klare Gesang von Andrés Espada.Der singt nicht einfach...der zelebriert das.Denn...der Kerl ist Richtig gut mit dem,was er da macht.Da kann einer mit seiner Stimme umgehen und klingt nicht langweilig,denn er "spielt" schön mit den Stimmbändern.Seine Art des singens gefällt mir sehr.Klar und etwas rotzig!Toll!
Musikalisch klingt das in der Gesamtheit schon sehr europäisch.Etwas nach H.E.A.T-so finde ich!Warum auch nicht.Als Künstler sollte man schon über den "Tellerrand" hinaus schauen / hören!Denn auch das bringt einen weiter und man lernt.Ich glaube,dass das Live eine sehr intesive Band ist und Live gut rüberkommt.Ohrwürmer gibt es auch.Z.b Songs wie Ohrwürmern wie "Ghost Behind The Mask" oder "My Syndrome" gefallen mir sehr und gingen auch gleich beim Ersten Hördurchgang gut ins Ohr!Insgesamt sind das alles Songs,die am Besten wirken,wenn der Volumeregler am Anschlag!Insgesamt klingt der Sound modern und frisch und knallt gut und ausgewogen!Ich muss sagen,das mich die Songs musikalisch "abholen"!Für ein Debüt ist das schon ein starkes Album.
Abwechslungsreich...ausgewogen...richtig guter Sänger und gute Musiker...Guter Sound...Ich hoffe,das die Jungs dieses hohe Niveau auch halten können und nicht gleich wieder in der Versenkung verschwinden.Das wäre schon sehr schade!

Der 2. Streich...
Gleich die ERSTE NUMMER knallt los...Mitten in die Fresse:Double-Bass...und eine Gitarre,die gut abgeht...Geht´s so weiter?Ja.Im Großen un d Ganzen,das sei gleich am Anfang erwähnt,ist das kein schlechtes Album.Der Prog-Metal kommt gut rüber und das hat grundsätzlich gute Momente.Die Ideen hat die Band schon dafür.Das Songwriting ist auch ok.Mal schnelle Parts,mal etwas ruhiger...langsamer.Mal Vocals,die so RICHTIG mit Power nach vorn gehen,um dann kurze Zeit später ruhiger daherkommen.Hinzu kommt eine interessante Gitarrenarbeit,die auf den Punkt eingespielt echtInteressante Riffs passen total in das musikalische Gesamtbild!Die Drums "arbeiten".Der Bass ist schön verspielt.
Ein interessantes Album!Mal geht´s so Richtig zur Sache.Mal wird es wieder etwas RUHIGER...Ja...fast nachdenklich!Warum auch nicht.Kann man so machen.So kommt schon eine Menge Abwechslung in das Album rein.Wobei ich "The forgotten Part II" mit etwas über 20 Minuten Spielzeit einfach für zu lang halte...Aber gut...Jeder so,wie er mag!Grundsätzlich gehen mir Songs mit 5 Minuten und mehr Spielzeit schon mächtig auf den Keks!
Der Release ist hörenswert...Aber nach längerem Hören ging mir-und so muss ich es leider ausdrücken- dann die Lust aus,weiter zu hören.Ich will jetzt nicht sagen,das es mir zu langweilig wurde.Aber irgendwie fiel mir das Vorrauschaubare in den Songs auf.Leider ist das jetzt kein Album,das ich mir permanent reintun werde.Aber ab und an...Warum nicht!?

Few bands have left as distinct a mark on the musical landscape as Horslips. Emerging in the early 1970s, they more or less created ‘Celtic Rock’, drawing from Irish traditional music and British/American rock, crafting a sound that was both timeless and radical.
The BBC captured the band in the 1970s and again during their unexpected Indian summer return in the 2010s. At The BBC gathers these vital recordings – spanning nearly 50 years – into one definitive collection.
Disc 1 (1973–74) – Live BBC performances from Radio 1 In Concert, Old Grey Whistle Test, and John Peel Show, capturing Horslips' early energy and innovation.
Disc 2 (1979–2019) – A 1979 Radio 1 In Concert set, a 2010 unplugged session, and their final 2019 recording, Sideways to the Sun.
Disc 3 (2011) – The BBC Radio Ulster mix of their orchestral concert with the Ulster Orchestra, featuring The Táin, The Book of Invasions, and I’ll Be Waiting.
Disc 4 (1979 Bonus Disc) – Unreleased Short Stories, Tall Tales studio mixes from Windmill Lane.
Disc 5 (DVD) – Old Grey Whistle Test clips, 1974 documentary footage & 2011 fan-shot concert videos.
Disc 1 begins the journey in 1973–74, landmark years in which Horslips took their fusion of mythology and musicianship to the airwaves and concert halls of Britain. Included are performances from Radio 1’s In Concert, The Old Grey Whistle Test, Radio 1’s Sounds of the 70s, 2nd House (BBC 2) and Radio 1’s John Peel Show, showcasing the group in full flight, brimming with invention and zeal.
By 1979, fresh from the inevitable hard slog of trying to conquer America, Horslips returned to Radio 1’s In Concert with a set that captured their ability to fit in with the times and the power of their live performances. Disc 2 continues with an unplugged ‘comeback’ session from 2010 and a BBC NI performance in 2019 of ‘Sideways to the Sun’ – written about magical Irish beings disappearing from mortal sight – which would, perhaps fittingly, prove to be their last official recording.
Disc 3 presents Horslips’ unique 2011 performance with the Ulster Orchestra at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall, in its previously unreleased BBC Radio Ulster broadcast mix. Including epic suites from classic albums The Táin and The Book of Invasions and fan favourites like the eight-minute ‘I’ll Be Waiting’, a showcase for late guitarist Johnny Fean (d. 2023), many – including band members – view this concert as Horslips’ finest hour (and a quarter).
Disc 4 is a bonus disc, comprising recently discovered 1979 ‘working mixes’ of the album Short Stories, Tall Tales, recorded at Dublin’s Windmill Lane. They offer an intimate glimpse into a band in transition, shifting from the US FM rock that had influenced recent albums towards the spikier, sharper British New Wave sound.
At The BBC is completed by a DVD bringing together clips from The Old Grey Whistle Test, 1974 documentary material and magical fan footage of two songs from the 2011 Waterfront Hall concert, synced to sparkling BBC audio.
Presented in a deluxe hardback book package with rare photographs and extensive liner notes by band biographer Mark Cunningham, legendary BBC producer Jeff Griffin and curator Colin Harper, At The BBC is a celebration of a band whose influence still echoes through the decades. The mastering is shared by Eroc in Germany and band associate Cormac O’Kane who mastered the acclaimed 2023 Horslips box set More Than You Can Chew.
