SOCIAL DISORDER - the "project" feat. Anders Rönnblom started right away to write new material, and in the fall of 2021 the recording process for the sophomore release „Time To Rise“ kicked off and was completed earlier this year.
Everyone in the band was more involved in the new album this time - and the result speaks for itself! Production credits go to mastermind Anders La Rönnblom, to mixing engineer Marten Eriksson at Fan Club Production and the mastering credits to Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers.

Nettes Rock-Scheibchen.Alles klingt sehr kompakt und jeder Song kommt relativ schnell auf den Punkt gespielt daher.Das ist so ein Album,wie ich es mag:Guter Sound,keine langen Intros pro Song,guter Mix im Studio.PASST!
Aber was ist das jetzt?Eine Super-Group,ein Projekt?Hm...ich mag solche "Ausdrücke" nicht.Das ist ne´ Band-und fertig.Aber das sei mal nur am Rande erwähnt.Und das hier klingt wie eine Band,die NICHT" zusammengewürfelt" klingt!Manche "zusammengewürfelten" Bands (...und das meine ich keinesfalls böse) klingen einfach nicht gut...Egal...ob das dann namhafte Musiker sind,die gerade mal nix zutun haben!
Ein rundes Album!In allen Belangen!Ich hab so beim hören das Gefühl gehabt,als wenn ich durchweg geradeaus gehe auf einer extrem langen Strasse ins Nirgendwo.Das gefällt mir!Besonders wenn der Groove bei einem Album stimmt.Und das beziehe ich hauptsächlich auf die Bassarbeit.Gitarre,Drums etc...sind dabei und "maschieren" ebenfalls in eine Richtung!Aber diese Bassarbeit...das macht für mich dieses Album aus.
Grundsätzlich ein schönes Album mit schönen Facetten und viel Abwechslung!Kann man sich ruhigen Gewissens zulegen und gern desöfteren hören!

...der so dahin"plätschert" und für etwas altbacken klingt!Also mein Ding ist das nicht so sehr.
Und mal ein "Sorry",wenn ich mich jetzt mal zu den Vocals äußere...Das kommende meine ich nich böse und bezieht sich NICHT auf die Person!
Also...ganz ehrlich:Die Vocals gehen mir auf den Keks.Oder besser gegesagt:Die Art des singens!Das nervt mich gewaltig!Gut-jeder Sänger hat so seinen eigenen Stil.Der Sänger von ARKADO kann schon was.Aber trotzdem mag ich es nicht.Echt nicht mein Ding!
Musikalisch-also ohne Vocals "gehört"...Nunja..."plätschert" so so dahin.Es gibt da so die ein oder andere Passage auf diesem Album die ich ganz interessant finde.Allerdings beziehe ich das ausschließlich auf die Gitarrenarbeit,die vielleicht etwas sparsam eingesetzt wirkt,aber genau da am Start ist,wo sie sein muss!Der Rest der Instrumentierung-hmmm!
Insgesamt ist mir das alles zu wenig,als das ich sagen kann:WOW...RICHTIG geiles Album!Da fehlt mir leider in der Gesamtheit das oder die RICHTIGEN Highlights.Der Sound des Album ist cool.So einen Mix mag ich gern:Klar,direkt...auf den Punkt abgemischt!

Saffire - For the Greater Good - Redux

"When the re-issue of "For the Greater Good" was greenlighted Saffire decided to do a re-mix on the album, something they’ve talked about for a while. Not that the original mix/production was of low quality but, more due to the fact that the original release felt sonically different to what they should have really sounded like, in their opinion. With this re-mix, the band could make it sound more like themselves again and also take the opportunity to do add some new, subtle production ingredients that they believe should have had been in the album from the very beginning. In short, they comment: “We gave the album the facelift it deserved!”

Ein Album von 2015,das NEU aufgelegt wurde...
Diese Band gibt es seit 2005 und seit 2007 kommen von ihnen regelmäßig Demos und EPs auf den Markt und 2013 erschien das Debüt-Album „From Ashes To Fire“!2015 dann der hier vorliegende Output,der,wie zu Anfangs erwähnt,jetzt NEU aufgelegt wurde.
Die Jungs klingen ein wenig nach 70er und URIAH HEEP oder DEEP PURPLE,die sie allerdings keinesfalls kopieren!Im Geteil!Das klingt verdammt eigenständig!UND...diese Songs bzw. das Album aus dem Jahr 2015 klingt verdammt gut!Vielleit etwas Retro,aber keinfalls angestaupt oder verstaubt!Das knallt an alles Ecken und rockt "wie Sau"!
Warum sind die eigendlich nicht in den TOP 10 der GROSSEN Bands zu finden?Das versteh ich nicht!Denn musikalisch hat man einiges zu bieten...AUCH,wenn dieses Album bereits 2015 erschien.
Ein sehr abwechslungsreiches Material,was ich hier höre.Mal gehts ruhiger zur Sache,dann aber mal etwas mit mehr Feuer!Besonders die Stimme find ich überragend.Diese strahlt..vorallem aber die "wärme" in den Vocals...SUPER!Da kann einer singen und zaubern mit den Stimmbändern!Das gefällt mir außerordendlich gut!
Naja...Der Rest der Band?Nunja...PASST alles.Auch hier kann ich nix finden,was mir nicht gefällt!Dieses Album würde auch 2024,wäre es KEINE Neu-Auflage,gut rüberkommen!

Motörhead - The Löst Tapes: The Collection (Vol. 1-5)

Musikkassetten! Erinnerst du dich noch daran? Diese Dinger mit den Doppelspulen und dem breiten braunen Plastikband, das sich gelegentlich lockerte und aus der Hülle hing, sodass man einen Bleistift und ein kräftiges Handgelenk brauchte, um es wieder zurückzudrehen?
Ja, es gab einmal eine Zeit, da enthielten Soundsysteme Kassettendecks für den ausdrücklichen Zweck, Shows aufzuzeichnen, und diese Kassettendinger waren Standard bei jeder Tournee. Motörhead stellten da ganz sicher keine Ausnahme dar und nahmen Show für Show auf ihnen auf. Sie enthalten Gold, reines aurales Gold, und lagen viele Jahre lang Hunderte von Metern tief unter der Erde in einer kleinen Höhle, die Lemmy gehörte, bewacht von kleinen, haarigen Zenturionen in römischen Rüstungen mit winzigen Speeren und schlechter Laune. Nur das magische Passwort konnte sie ihnen entreißen – zum Glück hatte Lem es aufgeschrieben und in einem alten Skizzenbuch für uns hinterlassen. Es kamen eine Menge dieser dreckigen, staubigen, schmierigen kleinen Dinger zusammen, mit Namen wie Malmö, Madrid, Heilbronn und Norwich, die mit Kugelschreiber auf die winzigen Etiketten gekritzelt waren, zusammen mit einem Datum... und so begann man, diese einzigartige Sammlung von Live-Perlen durch sorgfältig digitalisierte Transfers in einer Reihe von Veröffentlichungen mit dem Titel “The Löst Tapes” verfügbar zu machen.
Bis heute wurden fünf Konzerte aus diesen Kassettendokumenten von Motörheads ohrenbetäubendem Querschnitt durch Jahrzehnte von Live-Auftritten digital veröffentlicht, und die Teile 1 bis 4 erhielten zudem limitierte Vinyl-Editionen. Aufgrund der überwältigenden Nachfrage ist die Sammlung der Bände 1 bis 5 nun als CD-Box-Set erhältlich, wobei der neuste Band 5 auch auf Vinyl gepresst wurde.

(28. November 2023) Der Grammy-nominierte R&RHOF-Rekrut und Gitarrenlegende ACE FREHLEY kündigt die Veröffentlichung seines neuen Studioalbums 10.000 Volts an, das am 23. Februar 2024 erscheinen wird. Produziert von Ace und Steve Brown (Trixter), bietet Ace auf dem 11-Track-Album 10.000 Volts elektrisierenden, knallharten, Riff-lastigen Rock’n’Roll.
Der von Ace und Steve Brown geschriebene und produzierte Titeltrack und das dazugehörige Video sind heute erschienen. Der Song beginnt mit einem wuchtigen Riff, und Ace’s wuchtiger Vortrag lässt einen nicht mehr los. Er gipfelt in dem Refrain „She hit me like 10,000 volts, when I saw her face“, der in ein zündendes Gitarrensolo mündet.
Rock ’n‘ Roll und Heavy Metal würden ohne Ace Frehley einfach nicht mehr so klingen, aussehen oder sich so anfühlen wie bisher. Neben Hunderten von Auszeichnungen wurde er 2014 in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame® als Mitbegründer und ursprünglicher Leadgitarrist von Kiss aufgenommen. Guitar World wählte ihn in die Top 15 der „100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time“ und setzte die Leadstimme von „Shock Me“ auf die „50 Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time“. Die Foo Fighters haben ein, von den Fans geliebtes, Cover von „Ozone“ aufgenommen, und er hat sogar in der NBC-Sendung The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon zusammen mit The Roots „New York Groove“ gejammt. Der verstorbene Dimebag Darrell von Pantera trug mit Stolz ein Tattoo von Frehley auf seiner Brust, während Tom Morello von Rage Against The Machine ihn auf X/Twitter als „Mein erster Gitarrenheld“ feierte.
10.000 Volts ist ein sagenhaftes Vermächtnis für Frehley, das mehr als 50 Jahre im Rampenlicht umfasst. 1978 legte er sein Solodebüt Ace Frehley vor. Es erreichte Platinstatus und avancierte zum meistverkauften der vier Kiss-Soloalben der Soundscan-Ära. Pitchfork bewertete es im Nachhinein sogar mit der seltenen Note „8,5“. Im Jahr 1987 veröffentlichte er Frehley’s Comet. Nach Anomaly im Jahr 2009 schrieb er erneut Geschichte. Seine 2014 erschienene LP Space Invader erreichte Platz 9 der Billboard 200 und wurde zum „einzigen Soloalbum eines ehemaligen oder aktuellen Kiss-Mitglieds, das die Top 10 der Charts erreichte„. Das 2016 erschienene Origins Vol. 1 stieg auf Platz 1 der Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart und in die Top 5 der Billboard Top Rock Albums Chart ein. Mit Spaceman [2018] konnte er diesen Erfolg beibehalten.

Also...die musikalischen "Wurzeln" sind unüberhörbar:NATÜRLICH KISS!Aber überzeugt mich dieses Album?Schauen bzw. hören wir mal...
Los gehts´s mit 10 000 Volts.Der Titel ist die 1.Single des Albums und wird "gedudelt" wo es nur geht!Ein Ohrwurm-wie ich finde.Und OHRWÜRMER gibt es eine ganze Menge auf diesem Album:Walking on the moon,Cosmic Heart und diverse andere.Und was mir besonders gut gefällt ist,das jeder Songe insich anders klingt als der Song davor oder danach!Also Abwechslungsreich ist das Scheibchen schon mal!Ace hat da echt gutes Material gezaubert!Langeweile kommt innerhalb des Albums also nicht auf.
Zugeben:Ich bin und war KEIN KISS Fan.Aber irgendwie war man immer mit der Band "verbunden".Und KISS waren immer präsent!Und das bis heute.Und natürlich wird man den Namen ACE FREHLEY mit KISS immerin Verbindung bringen!Auch wenn er kein Bandmember mehr ist,hat er diese Band mitgeprägt!Das darf man nicht vergessen.Von seinem Solo-Material mag man halten was man will.Es ist gut.Aber auch nicht unbedingt DAS ALBUM überhaupt.Ich find die Songs ganz geil und interessant.Und,ohne das böse zu meinen,ist ACE FREHLEY nicht der Beste Sänger auf diesem Planeten.Aber gerade das,so finde ich,gibt diesem Album dies spezielle Würze.Naja...die Gitarrenarbeit...Sorry...das ich das jetzt so sage...ist..OK für mich und eben der Sound,den ACE spielen kann.Und dieser Sound ist der Sound,der Kiss Jahrelang zum strahlen gebracht hat und von dem KISS heute noch etwas haben!Also meinenRespekt hat er auf jeden Fall.Danke,Ace!

BORKNAGAR - Fall

Die norwegischen Avantgarde-Metaller Borknagar feiern ihr beeindruckendes neues Album "Fall", das über Century Media Records erscheint. Auf "Fall", dem Nachfolger des hochgelobten Albums "True North" (2019), schreiten Øystein G. Brun (Gitarre), Simen "ICS Vortex" Hestnæs (Gesang/Bass), Lars A. Nedland (Gesang/Keyboards), Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow (Schlagzeug) und Jostein Thomassen (Gitarre) mutig nach vorne, während sie ihre prestigeträchtige Vergangenheit in Ehren halten. Tracks wie das gewaltige, epische "Summits", das nachdenkliche "Nordic Anthem" und das progressiv-erhabene "Unraveling" stärken Borknagars weitreichende, musikalische Domäne, die sie vor 30 Jahren geschaffen haben.
"Ich verbringe viel Zeit damit, das nächste Album gedanklich zu planen", sagt Borknagar-Chef Øystein G. Brun. "Ich versuche immer, den Nerv der Dinge zu treffen, bevor ich anfange zu schreiben. Ich hatte schon immer eine sehr visuelle Beziehung zur Musik. Ich sehe Formen und Farben, Schattierungen und Nuancen. Um den neuen Albumzyklus zu beginnen, mussten wir erst einmal unsere Verpflichtungen, die wir dem Album True North gegnüber hatten, erfüllen, die aus bekannten Gründen auf Eis gelegt wurden. Sobald wir das getan hatten, konnten wir mit dem Schreibprozess für "Fall" beginnen.
Nach Touren mit Rotting Christ und Wolfheart in den USA, Moonspell und Insomnium in Europa sowie hochkarätigen Festivalauftritten beim Hellfest, Midgardsblot und Nummirock im Jahr 2022 haben sich Brun und der Rest von Borknagar in ihren jeweiligen Heimstudios in Norwegen verkrochen, um ihr zwölftes Album in voller Länge zu schreiben. Brun erinnert sich, dass es keinen bestimmten Ausgangspunkt für den Prozess gab, aber der Großteil von "Fall" - er nennt Tracks wie "Moon", "Afar" und "The Wild Lingers" als Beispiele - befand sich in Bruns Crosound Studio in einem ständigen Zustand der Erneuerung. Wie immer haben Borknagar an ihrer Kunst, ihrer Bedeutung und ihrer endgültigen Form gefeilt. Es ist in jeder Hinsicht der geistige Nachfolger von True North. "Fall" beschreitet jedoch auch neue Wege für die Norweger.

Ich mags auch mal heftig/deftig...wenn es um Musik geht.Und das "Thema BORKNAGAR" war auch bisher nicht auf meiner Liste.Der Name ist /war mir bekannt.Ich wusste immer,was die machen musikalisch...Hab mal reingehört und das war es dann auch schon.
Und bei diesem "reinhören" blieb es bislang auch.Musikalisch ist das eine interessante Band-ohne Frage!Ob ich es denn auch wirklich mag,die andere Sache...Naja...und wie ihr wisst,bin ich ehrlich!NEIN - es ist nicht mein Ding.Nochmal:MUSIKALISCH sicherlich mal ganz anders als andere Bands innerhalb des Genres.Und auch finde ich manche Passagen des gesamten Albums ganz interessant gemacht!Allerdings muss ich es auch nicht ständig haben.Zum "zwischendurchhören" finde ich das Material ganz OK!
Warum ist das nicht mein Ding?Ich finde das "Zeug" langweilig.Auch,wenn mich nun mancher Fan "köpfen" möchte...Das Album insich ist gut arrangiert und gemischt worden im Studio.Der Sound stimmt also.Das hat schon alles Hand und Fuss.Die Musiker machen auch einen tollen Job und die Vocals sind auch ok.Aber dann bin ich raus.
Man sollte schon Fan sein.Der bin ich nicht und werde ich vermutlich auch nicht werden.ALLERDINGS...ich werde es wie immer machen:Mich "umhören",was manche Bands/Künstler so "zaubern".Das ist ja auch eine Art der Weiterbildung...

BLACKBERRY SMOKE - Be Right Here

Produziert vom Grammy-prämierten Produzenten Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell), ist „Be Right Here“ eine zeitgemäße Erinnerung daran, präsent zu sein und authentisch zu leben. Auf diesen zehn Tracks – einer Sammlung ihrer charakteristischen Rock’n’Roll-Hymnen, an Americana angelehnten Balladen und Country-Rock-Jams – feiert die Band die einfachen Freuden des Lebens, die flüchtigen Momente und die kleinen Glücksmomente, die sie auf ihrem Weg findet.
Das Album wurde im historischen RCA Studio A in Nashville und in Cobb’s Georgia Mae in Savannah aufgenommen. Neben der Band – Charlie Starr (Gesang, Gitarre), Richard Turner (Bass, Gesang), Brit Turner (Schlagzeug), Paul Jackson (Gitarre, Gesang) und Brandon Still (Keyboards) – sind Preston Holcomb (Schlagzeug) und Benji Shanks (Gitarre) sowie The Black Bettys als Gastmusiker mit von der Partie.
Über den Aufnahmeprozess sagt Starr: „Wir nehmen immer live zusammen auf, aber dieses Mal hatten wir alle unsere Verstärker und Schlagzeuge und alles im selben Raum. Es ist einfach so natürlich und so echt wie möglich. Das letzte Album war auch sehr roh, aber bei diesem Album erinnere ich mich an verschiedene Momente, in denen ich sagte: ‚Ich denke, wir sollten das neu machen‘, und Dave meinte: ‚Nein, lass es so. Auf diese Weise ist es magisch.'“
Im Laufe ihrer produktiven Karriere haben Blackberry Smoke sieben Studioalben veröffentlicht, darunter 2021 You Hear Georgia, mit dem sie ihr 20-jähriges Bestehen als Band feierten. Der Rolling Stone erklärte: „Blackberry Smoke sind durch und durch eine Band aus Georgia… You Hear Georgia klingt geradezu gigantisch“, während American Songwriter lobte: „Blackberry Smoke ist immer noch Feuer und Flamme… ein Zeugnis dieser Hartnäckigkeit und eine unapologetische Ode an eine rebellische Haltung und Tradition. Das wird in praktisch jeder Note und Nuance deutlich“ und Vintage Guitar verkündete: „Seit 20 Jahren führen Blackberry Smoke aus Georgia die reiche Tradition des Southern Rock fort. You Hear Georgia … ist von diesen Wurzeln durchdrungen.“ Zusätzlich zu ihren Studioalben haben sie mehrere andere Projekte veröffentlicht, wie ihre EPs Stoned, The Southern Ground Sessions und Live From Capricorn Studios sowie Homecoming: Live In Atlanta, ein Live-Album und Konzertfilm, der auf Platz 1 der Americana/Folk-Album-Verkaufscharts von Billboard einstieg.
Seit ihrer Gründung im Jahr 2001 ist Blackberry Smoke unermüdlich auf Tournee und hat sich eine starke und treue Fangemeinde erspielt. Neben ihrer Arbeit als Musiker engagiert sich die Band stark für wohltätige Zwecke und gründete die Lana Turner Foundation, eine gemeinnützige Organisation, die mehrere nationale Stiftungen unterstützt, die sich für die Heilung von Kinderkrebs einsetzen. BLACKBERRY SMOKE mochte ich schon immer.Vom Ersten Album an bis zu dem mir JETZT vorliegenden Scheibling!Komischerweise hatte ich noch nie etwas zu meckern!Das kommt nicht oft vor.Denn normalerweiser findet man als "Schreiberling" immer etwas,was einem nicht gefällt!Für mich waren BLACKBERRY SMOKE immer perfekt.Die Songs aller Alben "fliegen rein in mein Gehörgänge und verankern sich dort meißtens für Tage...ihr wisst was ich meine!BLACKBERRY SMOKE...an denen hab ich echt SPASS gefunden in all den Jahren.Das klingt immer alles so locker gespielt und macht einfach gute Laune.SO geht Musik!
Ich will hier nun auch nicht so viel zu BLACKBERRY SMOKE schreiben.Die Herrschaften sind einfach Klasse!Und Grammys bekommt man nicht für schlechtes Zeug,was man gemacht hat.Das hat schon Gründe,warum diese Band schon seit Jahren in der OBERSTEN Liga mitspielt!

For the first three REVOLUTION SAINTS albums, 'Revolution Saints', 'Light In The Dark', and 'Rise', Deen was joined by bassist/vocalist Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and guitarist Doug Aldrich (ex-Whitesnake, DIO). Produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio, those three albums brought back the classic melodic rock style that thrilled and delighted legions of fans in the ‘80s and ‘90s and still does today! Inspiring, uplifting vocals, soaring melodies, and hooks for days is what you get in spades across those three albums.
While REVOLUTION SAINTS, MK I left an indelible mark on the melodic rock world, it was time for MK II to be born. Deen, having recently rejoined Journey, was feeling invigorated and inspired and ready to sing his ass off. Filling Blades and Aldrich's shoes would be no easy feat, but, mercifully, the exact right guys were found for the job!
Joel Hoekstra is a current member of Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Iconic, as well as having his own solo project, Joel Hoekstra's 13 and is an absolutely stunning guitar player, able to play multiple styles. Jeff Pilson, currently a member of Foreigner, Black Swan, and The End Machine, is also known for his time in Dokken and of course, his more recent production work. Two stellar musicians to compliment Deen's singing and drumming is exactly what was needed for REVOLUTION SAINTS, MK II and that's what we've got here. As with the first three albums, Alessandro Del Vecchio handles production as well as contributing keyboards and background vocals.

Fleißig,fleißig,die Herren Deen Castronovo (Gesang, Schlagzeug), Jeff Pilson (Bass) und Joel Hoekstra (Gitarre)!Ein Jahr nach veröffendlichung des letzten Albums "Eagle Flight" das nächste Album!Das gefällt mir sehr!
Diesen Output empfinde ich als etwas rockiger als das Vorgänger Album.Die Melancholie ist meiner Ansicht nach nicht so vordergrundig.Das zeigt aber auch,das die Herrschaften die Abwechslung mögen und nicht alles so belassen wollen..Musikalische Langeweile kommt ohnehin nicht auf bei den Songs von REVOLUTION SAINTS.Was mir besonders auffällt sind die Vocals.Die klingen etwas kerniger!Toll!Vorallem muss man mal eines bedenken:Ein Drummer,der auch noch singt...DAS ist selten geworden.Und wenn er das noch KANN...Was will man mehr?REVOLUTION SAINTS bleiben trotzdem immer ihrer MUSIKALISCHEN LINIE treu:Melancholie und rockige Tracks!Meiner Ansicht nach ist das auch zum "Markenzeichen" dieser fantastischen Band geworden!
Über die musikalischen Fähigkeiten der einzelnen Musiker gibt es KEINE ZWEI MEINUNGEN!Die "Klasse" der Band ist deutlich hörbar!Darüber muss man mal garnicht reden!
Ob jetzt die anderen Alben schwächer oder besser sind...DAS will ich nicht beurteilen!Warum?Ganz einfach: Bei REVOLUTION SAINTS bekomm ich das,was ich von ihnen kenne und gewohnt bin: Gute Musik!Und genau das zählt für mich!

FARGO -The early years

Fargo zählten Anfang der Achtziger zu Deutschlands wichtigsten Rock-Acts. Mit vier Studioalben zwischen 1979 und 1982 und ihren Tourneen unter anderem mit AC/DC,Mothers Finest oder The Small Faces hat sich die Hannoveraner Band einen echten Kultstatus erspielt. Nach einer längeren Pause sind Fargo seit 2016 wieder aktiv,haben zwei weitere vielbeachtete Studioscheiben produziert und waren wiederholt in Deutschland und der Schweiz auf Tour. Am 23. Februar 2024 werden ihre vier frühen Klassiker ‚Wishing Well‘ (1979), ‚No Limit‘ (1980), ‚Frontpage Lover‘ (1981) und ‚F‘ (1982) über Steamhammer/SPV wiederveröffentlicht. ‚The Early Years‘ erscheint als hochwertige 4-CD-Box inklusive Fotos und Linernotes, sowie als Schallplatten mit bedruckten Innentaschen. Alle vier Alben wurden neu gemastert, das Debüt ‚Wishing Well‘ wurde zudem neu gemischt.
Gegründet wurde die Band im Frühjahr 1973 von Peter ´Fargo-Pedda` Knorn. Kurze Zeit später schloss sich Sänger/Gitarrist Peter Ladwig an. Die Gruppe erspielte sich schnell eine treue Fangemeinde und unterschrieb nur wenige Jahre später einen Plattenvertrag beim Konzernriesen EMI. Zwischenzeitlich gehörte auch Gitarrist Matthias Jabs zur Band, der 1978 zu den Scorpions wechselte und dort bekanntlich Weltkarriere machte. Aber auch Fargo wurden zum internationalen Act und präsentierten über den Medienkonzern EMI vier erstklassige Studioscheiben.
Die Band tourte mehrfach in ganz Europa, teilte sich die Bühne mit internationalen Top-Acts und hinterließ auch im Fernsehen („Rock Pop“, ZDF) einen glänzenden Eindruck. Aufgrund ihrer sensationellen Bühnenshow (zum allabendlichen Spektakel gehörte Knorns legendärer Kopfüber-Salto) widmete sogar das größte europäische Jugendmagazin BRAVO dem Fargo-Bassisten im Januar 1981 zwei komplette Seiten.
Nach einer Zeit des Umbruchs ging 1984 die Hardrock-Formation Victory aus Fargo hervor und setzte die erfolgreiche Karriere ihres Vorläufers übergangslos fort. Als Bassist von Victory manövrierte Knorn auch seine neue Gruppe zielsicher durch sämtliche Klippen des internationalen Rockzirkus. Fargo waren somit zunächst auf Eis gelegt, kehrten jedoch 2016 in die Öffentlichkeit zurück und sind seither wieder fester Bestandteil der aktuellen Rockmusikszene.

Never underestimate the dedication of the diehard.
Formed in 2007 in Bavaria, Germany, DUST BOLT have been resolute and ruthless in their pursuit of metal glory over the last 16 years. Childhood friends with a collective passion for metal in all its various forms, the quartet led by vocalist/frontman Lenny Bruce have established themselves as one of Europe’s leading thrash metal bands. Across four acclaimed studio albums – Violent Demolition (2012), Awake The Riot (2014), Mass Confusion (2016) and Trapped In Chaos (2019) – and countless intense and celebratory live shows, Dust Bolt have paid their dues and earned the respect of an ever-expanding army of fans in the process.
For those eager to predict the future, Dust Bolt have looked like heavyweight contenders for a long time, but the truth is that the band have only just started their heavy metal mission. In 2024, the Germans will release their fifth album, Sound & Fury: an album that refines and noisily redefines the Dust Bolt sound for a new era. Written during those isolated months of pandemic lockdown, the new record represents the peak of the band’s creativity, and a major leap forward in every department. The first Dust Bolt record to feature new bassist Tom Liebing, alongside Lenny Bruce, guitarist Florian Dehn and drummer Nico Remann, Sound & Fury grew from a long period of self-reflection that began when the world shut down.
“We’ve been doing this band since we were kids,” he states. “We did our first European tour when we were 17 and ever since, we just pushed it. We lived together, we rehearsed six times a week, and it was all about the band, all of the time. But we realised after Trapped In Chaos that everything is getting a little bit more complicated now we’re older. And then the pandemic happened and it felt like a good time to take a break and reassess everything.”
As Dust Bolt’s chief songwriter, Lenny was newly motivated to breathe fresh fire into his band’s whole creative process.Entrenched in his own studio, the frontman dug deep to find some new inspiration.
“I started to make music even more than before,” he recalls. “I started to produce in the studio, started learning how to record,worked with some other bands, and did some musical projects with other people. After a year, we all hung out and I was like,‘Hey, I got some songs that are definitely Dust Bolt songs! They sound different but they need to be on a DB record!’ Things
just came together. We have a studio, but we didn’t have any money or a label, so I decided to record it myself. We had nothing, but fuck it, we just decided to do it by ourselves.”
The end result of this admirable DIY crusade is Sound & Fury – the fifth and most fascinating Dust Bolt album yet. Although still rooted in thrash and old school metal, the new record adds dazzling colour and diversity to the band’s trademark sound.
With pummelling grooves, spine-tingling dynamics and a startling, part-melodic vocal performance from Lenny Bruce, new songs like album opener Leave Nothing Behind and I Am The One mark the beginning of a new era of Dust Bolt destruction.Simultaneously catchier than any previous record and grittier and heavier than before, Sound & Fury is the sound of a great
band realising their full potential.
“Absolutely, it’s a natural evolution,” says Lenny. “We’ve expanded but we haven’t changed. We felt like we got the label of being a thrash metal band, and it was restrictive. We couldn’t do certain things because they wouldn’t be considered thrash!
But it was a good time, during the pandemic, because there was no media, no press, and I didn’t check emails and stuff, so we were free. I would write a riff and I didn’t care if it was thrash metal or not. It was a good time to really find out who I am as a guitar player and as a singer, and I took the time to really find it out and then we made the record. So there is a change in
style, but it’s 100 percent us, perhaps more than ever.”
As with its four predecessors, Sound & Fury offers a sustained avalanche of riffs and numerous moments of skull-crushing heaviness. But the real revelation is that Lenny has discovered a melodic side to his voice that gives Dust Bolt’s new songs a completely fresh and invigorating feel. Exploring the possibilities of his voice, while maintaining the ferocity that fans have come to expect over the year, this bold move proved to be the final piece of the puzzle that Dust Bolt had been searching for.
“I always wanted to be a singer but I never did it for Dust Bolt, because that was a highly aggressive, pissed off screaming thing,” grins Lenny. “It’s a personal evolution for me. Suddenly I decided to just do it, ‘I’m gonna sing!’ [Laughs] We knew that when the band comes together in the rehearsal room, it’s going to be aggressive and thrashy anyway because that’s how we
are when we make music together, but this is the voice that I always wanted to use.”
Free from label demands and the prying eyes of the media, Dust Bolt created Sound & Fury with no distractions or interference. Importantly, Lenny decided to record and produce the album himself, with a little help from some highly skilled friends (and generous relatives).
“We didn’t have any plan, except for believing in ourselves. We got some money from our guitarist’s grandma, so we could get started and record the drums. Once I had the drums, I found a guy that has a small studio, just a few metres from my apartment in Munich. He started helping me, and that’s how we produced the album. We spent 60 or 70 days last summer,just freaking out on this thing. Then we went to another guy in Berlin, Moritz Enders, to mix and master it. He mixes analogue,really old school. I sent him the unmixed record and asked him if it was something he'd be interested in, and he said, ‘Finally!
Fuck yeah, thank you!’ because he’d been waiting to do a metal record forever!”
Triumphant in their quest to complete the new record on their own terms, Dust Bolt hit new heights of intensity and verve on Sound & Fury. Songs like Burning Pieces and Love & Reality retain all the viciousness of previous albums, but without the restrictions of any particular metal subgenre. Instead, it is a brave, groove-powered and emotionally supercharged piece of work, fuelled by a heartfelt need to progress and push the boundaries. It is also, in lyrical terms, a much more raw, honest and thoughtful affair, as Lenny delves into his own personal experience to tangle with some undeniable, universal truths.
“We’ve been friends since we were 12 years old and the only place we ever had to get out all our emotions was Dust Bolt,” he states. “That’s still true. Lyrics just happen. I’m always taking notes and writing stuff in my diary, so the songs are about those feelings, I guess.
This album might sound a little different now and then, but we’ve been trying to find a space where our emotions can be free and not judged. You can scream when you want to scream, you can freak out, you can bang your head like crazy… that’s what metal is about, you know?”
Dust Bolt will return in 2024, armed with the finest album they have ever made, and a newfound sense of purpose. The making of Sound & Fury has clearly given the German four-piece a new lease of life, and subtly enhanced ambitions for the future. While most bands are content to be tethered to the usual music biz cycles, Dust Bolt have freed themselves and delivered a potential game-changing chunk of music. Still metal diehard to the bone, they have simply found a better and more life-affirming way to gets head banging. On this form, there will be no stopping them.
“There’s so many good bands and great music still out there,” Lenny concludes. “We have to make the switch and show people that the next generations is here, and we did our homework for the last 15 years, being out on the road, eating dirt and having no money! We do this because we love it, and I think it’s time to have some younger people up there, taking things to another level. We want to build our own world, and this is the start. The only thing that matters in the end is the music.”

Mir gefällt das!Da wird nicht lange "gefackelt"-da kommt man zügig und ohne Umwege auf den musikalischen Punkt.Und das bei jedem Song!Moderner Sound,Ideen...So würde ich das NEUE Album am Besten beschreiben!Und irgendwie klingen die Jungs besser als früher!?ODER...liegt es daran,dass das Songmaterial der letzten Alben von Album zu Album anders klingt?Das letztere wirds dann wohl sein.Und ich finde das RICHTIG gut.Stillstand ist Rückschritt.Klar ist:Man kann das Rad nicht NEU erfinden,aber DUST BOLT vielleicht in Ansätzen schon...
Allerdings...vom Thrash haben sich die Herren nie verabschiedet.Aber in den letzten Jahren hat sich die Bandmusikalisch stabilisiert,sich musikalisch gefunden!KLASSE!
Ich bin mal auf das nächste Album gespannt.Gibt es da GEFÜHLT auch wieder einen nächsten Schritt?Darauf bin ich gespannt!
Bis hierhin erfreue ich mich an diesem Album und an den letzten Outputs und groove mit!Natürlich bei VOLLER Lautstärke.Sonst bringt das ja nix!

The Pineapple Thief revel in opposing forces. Muscle and fragility. Chaos and precision. Gnarly introspection and warm, dreamlike expanse. Conceived in 1999 by Bruce Soord, the progressive quartet underwent a rebirth in 2017 with the arrival of Gavin Harrison (King Crimson, Porcupine Tree) on drums. Completed by bassist/backing vocalist Jon Sykes and keyboardist Steve Kitch, they’ve honed a lean yet lush, quietly timeless sound that soars on It Leads To This.
“I’m so proud of it,” says Soord. “I just can't wait to get out there and sing it. I'm going to be able to sing every word, play every note, and feel really good about all of it.”
“I've been in lots of situations with producers and session musicians,” says Harrison, a drummer with anarranger’s ear, who quickly became involved with songcraft upon joining the band. “I've witnessed people rearranging songs in front of your face, and sometimes a song with a different arrangement is like a different song. Luckily, Bruce loves being shocked or surprised. That's a rarity, working with singers.”
Since 2014’s Magnolia, The Pineapple Thief have worked towards an ideal form of 21st century progressive music. Spacious, detailed songs in pop packages. Maximum depth with a minimalist spirit. Meanwhile Soord also released three solo albums, mixed records for Jethro Tull, Anathema, Katatonia, TesseracT, Haken and many others, and became a father of three. Alongside this, the world changed. Turmoil unfurled, from global warming to #MeToo. The pandemic happened.
It all feeds into It Leads To This. Comprising eight fat-free epics – all about five minutes long, mixing rock urgency with delicate atmospherics, pensive keys and captivating melodies – it finds Soord looking back and fearing for the world his children will inherit. In a career first, his real world lyrics also draw from literature:
accounts of Ancient Rome, John Williams’ classic Stoner and his epistolary Augustus. Pictures of real and fictional men, reevaluating their pasts.
For Soord it was also a time of self-reflection, epitomised in the slightly sinister title track – all creeping, intricate rhythms, offset by distorted guitars and dreamy electronics. “I was that person. I was that ambitious man who wanted to be a successful musician and would stop at nothing, almost, to do it. So when I look back on it, I think ‘well, actually, yeah, it was bad’. What I'm writing about, what I'm criticising, is me, and that's probably why I could sing it. It really was written from the heart.”
It all began that strange spring in 2020. Walking out to his studio, in Yeovil, Somerset, Soord looked up at a silent, empty sky and wrote Put It Right – the quietly haunting marriage of poise and moody alt rock that opens It Leads To This. “It was just clear blue, not a plane in the sky,” he remembers. “I remember writing the whole of Put It Right. It starts off with the words ‘this haven’, because I was down in my little haven, at the bottom of my garden.”
More songs came out of that period. All That's Left was one; all eerie melancholia and loud, jagged peaks. Album closer To Forget was another; a stunning, delicately sprawling ode to the tragedies people live through, inspired by accounts of the families lost under dictatorships in Argentina and Chile. All of it conveyed through Soord’s fragile yet penetrative tenor, nodding to storytellers like Nick Drake, Thom Yorke and Katatonia’s Jonas Renkse.
But it was stints at Harrison’s home studio that imbued the record with real heat. One standout result was Rubicon, a bruising yet nuanced picture of the tyranny and paranoia of Julius Caesar, and history’s capacity to repeat itself (especially in regard to its world leaders).
For the singer/guitarist, it was an intense experience. “I'm so used to just writing here [in my studio], where there's no pressure,” he admits. “Whereas driving to Gavin’s house and staying there for three or four days, it was properly intense. I don't think I've ever focused my mind as intensely as I did during that time.”
“Bruce is a more chaotic person,” Harrison offers. “I'm a bit more logical. With Bruce, it's more the mood he's in and how much confidence he's got. And that's probably the successful part of it. If we were both chaotic,it’d probably not come together. If we were both a lot more logical, it wouldn't be so interesting.”
Perhaps the most incendiary expression of this creative fusion is first single The Frost – a banger with a dark heart.
“The Frost was one of those moments that every songwriter wishes happened all the time, where you pick up a guitar, and it just comes out,” Soord says, “and it's actually a love song with a slightly sinister undertone, about falling with your soulmate to the ocean floor, in peace together…”
In a way, that’s The Pineapple Thief all over. Idiosyncratic but relatable. Devastating and life-affirming, in the same breath. Not married to a single genre, just melody served by tones and textures. Music that only the four of them (friends, not just bandmates) could make.
“I learned that from Porcupine Tree,” Harrison observes, “if you change one person, the whole sound of the band changes. The chemistry of the sound is the four of us, doing what we do. And we have a laugh, we make fun of each other…” he grins, “well mostly [of] Bruce, but it’s good fun.”
Maybe that’s why this clever, commanding record unfurls as naturally as it does. Why It Leads To This can, and should, be read with a question mark. Is the world doomed? Could we have acted differently? Do people change? Does it lead to this?
“As much as I go on about the polarised state of the world, l do think it’s a minority creating this toxic environment that a lot of us have to live in,” Soord says. “I think most people who I meet are genuinely nice.
So there's a positive message from this. Because it shouldn't, it doesn't have to lead to this.”

Schlecht ist das nicht was ich höre.Aber auch nicht wirklich meins!Das muss ich mal ganz KLAR sagen.Aber ich woll zumindest etwas dazu von mir geben,weil ich denke,das es schon Fans gibt,die das mögen!UND...irgendwie hat die Band musikalisch was,was ich dann doch mag!
Ist es die Melancholie oder ist es die "RUHE",die dieses Album ausstrahlt?Keine Ahnung!Wahrscheinlich beides!Denn so kann man das gehörte am Besten beschreiben!
Abwechslung und Sound sind gut umgesetzt!Die Arrangemants der einzelnen Songs sind interessant!ABER...in der Gesamtheit gehört "plätschert" dieses Album so vor sich hin und lässt jetzt bei mir nicht DIE Begeisterungsstürme aufkommen!So zum hören und vielleicht nach einem anstrengenden Tag runterzufahren ist das ok-für mich!Aber das sollte dann jeder für sich entscheiden!Ich persönlich bin weit davon entfernt zu sagen,das es mich das Material langweilt!Vielleicht etwas...Schlecht ist es allerdings nicht und hat mindestens mal 2 Ohren verdient!

Compilation?What?Einige der Songs kommen mir bekannt vor...2012 (2012er Release "Riot Avenue" ?)?Hmm...Neu eingespielt?Hmmm...Ganz ehrlich:Diese Band gibt es schon gute 20 Jahre...Und dann sind die Mehrheit der Songs aus dem Jahr 2012?Da hätte man auch mal bei 20 Jahren Band"geschichte" etwas mehr auf ältere Songs aus den Anfangszeiten der Band "bauen" können!Wie dem auch ist...
Den 80er-Jahre-Style haben sie ja drauf...Etwas SKID ROW und etwas Sleaze + 80er DNA haben ja ihre Daseinsberechtigung-ohne Frage!Aber so Richtig STEIL ist diese Band nun auch nicht in der Vergangenheit gegangen!Das ist ja ganz nett was ich da höre,haut mich aber auch nicht so um,als das ich jetzt sage:SUPER-TOLL!
Ob man letztendlich dieses Album nun wirklich braucht,muss und sollte jeder selbst entscheiden.Allerdings sehe ich es etwas anders:Nach 3 Jahren Albumpause hätte man meines Erachtens nach lieber ein komplett NEUES Album rausbringen sollen,als das "aufgewärmte"(das ältere Material ist GRUNDSÄTZLICH ja NICHT SCHLECHT ist) Na gut...da sind NEUE Songs dabei...Aber nochmal...WARUM nicht gleich ein NEUES Album?Das hätte ich dann doch besser gefunden!
